In 2024, the Gambia National Water & Electric Company (NAWEC) engaged I-Growe to train 20 employees, primarily from the Finance Directorate, as part of their initiative to implement a full accrual-based accounting system. This training was crucial for NAWEC’s efforts to enhance financial reporting and align with international accounting standards.
I-Grow’s expert team conducted a comprehensive 5-day training program, focusing on accrual accounting principles and their practical application within the utility sector. The training included in-depth lectures, hands-on exercises, and case studies tailored to NAWEC’s operational context.
The impact of the training was evident in the feedback received from participants, who gave an average rating of 3.8 out of 5. Additionally, a comparative analysis of the T-scores from the pre- and post-course assessments demonstrated significant improvement in participants’ understanding and application of accrual accounting principles. This positive outcome reflects the effectiveness of the training in equipping NAWEC employees with the necessary skills to successfully transition to an accrual-based accounting system.
